Senior Buyer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Choose suppliers based on quality standards, pricing, specifications, and delivery schedules.

• Manage the entire purchasing process, from soliciting quotes to fulfilling purchase orders.

• Accurately complete purchase orders, RMA documentation, and additional paperwork.

• Liaise with quality assurance, manufacturing, and inventory control regarding material concerns.

• Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, and establish long-term contracts with vendors.

• Communicate contract requirements to suppliers and ensure their adherence.

• Build and sustain relationships with vendors across mechanical parts, machine components, electronics, and commodities.

• Spearhead and execute departmental process improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to satisfy quality, lead-time, pricing, and contractual obligations.

• Develop corrective actions with suppliers to promote enhancements.

• Work together with engineering, sales, and production to troubleshoot design and purchasing challenges, including outdated parts.

• Provide material quotes to assist in customer quotation efforts.

• Ensure adherence to evolving government and industry regulations as well as ISO standards.

• Guarantee compliance with FAR/DFARS clauses, flow-downs, sourcing limitations, and documentation requirements.

• Maintain procurement records to meet DCMA/DCAA audit standards, including cost/price analysis and supporting justifications.

• Assess suppliers for ITAR/EAR compliance, cybersecurity practices, and counterfeit mitigation measures.

• Oversee long-lead items, government property, and timelines driven by contracts for materials.

• Take part in program reviews/IPTs and offer updates on procurement status, risks, and compliance.

• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks associated with country of origin, specialty metals, vendor dependability, and quality.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate Degree in Production, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

• Over 5 years of experience in procurement-related activities.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.

• Preferred: Technical background or familiarity with machining, mechanical components, or electronic parts.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance if necessary for the contract.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and acquire a passport.

• Must be a U.S. citizen due to federal contract stipulations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.

• Strong skills in blueprint reading.

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

• Capable of working independently.

• Highly organized with strong time-management abilities.

• Ability to interpret and apply government contract requirements, including regulatory flow-downs.

• Proficient in conducting basic cost/price analysis and documenting price reasonableness.

• Strong understanding of supplier compliance risks, including cybersecurity, counterfeit control, and export compliance.

• Expertise in maintaining precise, audit-ready procurement documentation.

• Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation/keyboard.

• Capable of typing accurately and efficiently.
