Senior Business Systems Analyst – Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead engagements with stakeholders to gain insights into mission objectives, operational challenges, current workflows, and anticipated future needs.

• Document business and functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.

• Analyze sustainment, logistics, maintenance, supply, and readiness processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

• Convert mission and operational requirements into system, reporting, and data specifications for technical teams.

• Assist in prioritizing, defining scope, and conducting impact analysis for system enhancements, integrations, and process modifications.

• Collaborate with product, operations, architecture, data science, and engineering teams to outline solution options and recommend strategies.

• Map current and future processes, handoffs, and system interactions throughout sustainment workflows.

• Aid in designing integrations, workflow automation, and operational reporting capabilities.

• Work alongside data engineers and developers on data mapping, ETL/ELT design, validation, and reporting requirements.

• Write and optimize SQL queries for analysis, troubleshooting, and data validation.

• Define business logic, metrics, and data definitions for dashboards and reports.

• Assist with the integration of enterprise and mission-support systems.

• Define and support user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios, test cases, and business validation criteria.

• Validate delivered solutions against mission and operational standards.

• Maintain requirements, process maps, data dictionaries, traceability matrices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks.

• Facilitate stakeholder communication, change management, training, and the adoption of new capabilities.

• Support data standards, controls, and process consistency with government, program, supplier, compliance, and operations stakeholders.

• Identify and communicate risks, dependencies, and issues.

• Lead or assist cross-functional workstreams and act as a liaison between mission users and technical teams.

• Mentor junior team members and promote consistent business analysis and documentation practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst.

• Extensive experience in business systems analysis, requirements gathering, and process documentation.

• Proficient in mapping current and future workflows.

• Capability to translate mission or operational needs into functional and technical specifications.

• Experience in supporting UAT, issue triage, and readiness for implementation.

• Strong stakeholder management abilities in cross-functional environments.

• Advanced SQL skills for analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Qlik.

• Working knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling, and data quality practices.

• Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, Splunk, AWS, Databricks, or Azure Synapse.

• Familiarity with APIs, middleware, and enterprise system integrations.

• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Git, and Agile delivery methodologies.

• Must agree to the Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program assessment.

• Must not pose a risk to the safeguarding of controlled goods.

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Must qualify for Secret Level II security clearance.

• Must be eligible to handle U.S. export-controlled data.

• Successful candidates must pass the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
