Staff Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable data models utilizing dbt and SQL for financial reporting and operational metrics.

• Set and implement best practices for data modeling, development, testing, and monitoring.

• Collaborate with finance, operations, customer success, and marketing teams to gather requirements and deliver dependable data products.

• Establish repeatable processes for integrating data models with BI tools and reverse ETL procedures.

• Advocate for change management, source control, code reviews, and data monitoring as products and data evolve.

• Own and implement the vision for the data transformation layer within the company’s data platform.

• Partner closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Users.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering with a strong emphasis on the "T" (transformation) in ELT.

• Demonstrated success in owning data products from start to finish, applying analytics and data engineering best practices to guarantee data quality, scalability, and robust data models.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements; able to assume ownership with minimal oversight in a dynamic environment.

• Experience in proactively identifying and implementing enhancements to data warehouse performance and ETL efficiency.

• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and dbt for complex queries and data transformations.

• Proficient in Python for transformations that go beyond SQL.

• Practical experience with query optimization across OLTP and OLAP systems (e.g., Postgres, Iceberg).

• Proficient in Semantic Layer modeling (e.g., Cube, dbt Semantic Layer).

• Experience managing CI/CD workflows and establishing organization-wide standards for version control and code review (e.g., Git).

• Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP or AWS).

• Experience with data ingestion tools (e.g., Airbyte) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) is a plus.

• Background in brokerage operations or a strong interest in financial markets and modeling financial datasets is a bonus.
