This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Facilitate discovery interviews and workshops across various programs, offices, and bureaus.
• Map out current-state workflows from start to finish and pinpoint the root causes of delays, handoff failures, duplicate tasks, and manual controls.
• Utilize Python and SQL to analyze process data, establish performance benchmarks, identify bottlenecks, and validate newly designed workflows.
• Create future-state workflows that simplify tasks, enhance approval processes, clarify roles, reduce manual efforts, and lay the groundwork for technology integration.
• Identify dependencies, integration points, data requirements, operational limitations, and opportunities for automation.
• Convert findings into actionable requirements and recommendations for digital forms, Power Platform, and AI-driven capabilities.
• Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflow diagrams, RACI matrices, templates, job aids, and implementation materials.
• Lead pilot programs and process validation using metrics such as cycle time, error rates, workload, and user feedback.
• Refine redesigned processes based on empirical evidence.
• Provide daily guidance and quality oversight for analysts.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager, Lead Business Analyst, solution design teams, and technical staff.
• Organize and support the modernization portfolio for the Department of the Interior.
• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of pertinent experience in business process reengineering, process enhancement, management consulting, or similar transformation roles.
• Proficient in Python for data preparation and analysis.
• Skilled in SQL for data querying, joining, and validation.
• Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale process or operating-model transformations across multiple functions, systems, integration points, or stakeholder groups.
• Proven ability to conduct discovery workshops and produce both current-state and future-state process designs, including root-cause analysis and documentation ready for implementation.
• Experience in translating process insights into requirements and recommendations for technology-enabled transformations while actively engaging in analysis and deliverables.
• Must successfully complete the background investigation, suitability, credentialing, and system access requirements for a Moderate Risk Public Trust position.
• Experience in leading enterprise transformations for federal departments or agencies.
• Background in management consulting, federal advisory, or professional services within dynamic, high-change environments.
• Practical experience utilizing generative AI or LLM tools for research, analysis, workflow redesign, prototyping, or process improvement.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft 365/SharePoint, data and API concepts, or other technologies for workflow modernization.
• Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement training or certification.
• Full-time W2 employment.
• Primarily remote work within the United States.
• Occasional travel to Department of the Interior locations as needed for projects.
• 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday.
• Required availability during DOI core hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET.
