Senior Business Analyst – Mining

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Perform comprehensive due diligence on mining assets and companies, incorporating geological, technical, and commercial evaluations.

• Develop and sustain financial models (DCF, NAV, comparable transactions, and companies) for mining projects and corporate dealings.

• Examine mineral resource and reserve statements (JORC, NI 43-101, or equivalent) and evaluate their commercial significance.

• Assess mining project economics, which includes capex/opex profiles, production timelines, commodity price forecasts, and risk factors.

• Draft investment memoranda, pitch books, valuation summaries, and presentations for board-level discussions.

• Keep abreast of commodity markets, trends in the mining sector, M&A activities, and the competitive environment.

• Assist in deal execution, coordinating with technical consultants, legal teams, and counterparties.

• Evaluate geopolitical, permitting, environmental, and ESG risks that impact mining investments.

• Design and assess alternative and structured financing arrangements for mining operations, encompassing metal prepays, royalties, streaming agreements, offtake and marketing contracts, and debt/equity hybrids, while evaluating their influence on project economics and counterparty risk.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Earth Sciences.

• Over 5 years of relevant experience in mining, investment banking, corporate finance, equity research, or technical/financial advisory within the resources sector.

• Experience with M&A transactions, project financing, or asset valuation in the mining field is highly preferred.

• Formal business education or training is advantageous (MBA, finance/business degree, CFA progress, or equivalent practical experience).

• Proven understanding of mineral resource classification standards (JORC, NI 43-101, SAMREC, or similar).

• Familiarity with structured financing instruments utilized in the mining industry, including prepays, royalties, streams, and offtake agreements.

• Exceptional financial modeling and valuation capabilities.

• Capacity to convert technical geological data into commercial and financial insights.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel; knowledge of mining technical software (e.g., resource and mine-planning tools) is a plus.

• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and presentations.

• Ability to manage multiple work streams under tight deadlines.

• Attention to detail and sound commercial judgment.
