Senior Bookkeeper

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of bookkeeping tasks for a portfolio of US clients.

• Evaluate AI-assisted bookkeeping outputs and address complex or ambiguous cases.

• Oversee accounts payable, transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts receivable, month-end closing, sales tax tracking and submissions, 1099 preparation, and the fixed-asset register.

• Document errors, corrections, and modifications in a systematic manner to enhance AI performance.

• Recognize recurring issues among clients and escalate them to the Manager and product team.

• Collaborate with the product team to test enhancements and assist in establishing quality benchmarks.

• Recommend and implement enhancements to QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other system configurations and client information processes.

• Serve as the primary contact for daily bookkeeping inquiries from US business owners and finance leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of practical bookkeeping experience.

• At least 3 years of direct experience with US clients.

• Familiarity with multi-currency transactions, inventory/COGS, and intricate reconciliations.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP principles, cash and accrual accounting, multi-state sales tax, 1099 reporting, payroll journals, and month-end closing procedures.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online; QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification or equivalent qualification preferred.

• Proficient in Xero and Dext.

• Experience with Shopify, Gusto, Bill.com, Stripe, and other payment processing integrations.

• Availability to work hours that align with the US business schedule.

• Excellent command of spoken and written English.

• Confidence in engaging with US business owners.

• Willingness to collaborate with an AI agent as a teammate, reviewing its work and providing constructive feedback.

• Clear written communication skills, particularly in online platform interactions.

• Ability to articulate accounting concepts to business owners who may lack financial expertise.

• Confidence in making decisions regarding ambiguous accounting issues and justifying the rationale.

• Personal accountability for each client file.

• Good judgment regarding when to escalate issues or seek a second opinion.
