This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Bookkeeping team, which includes distributing workloads, balancing portfolios, managing throughput, and ensuring coverage.
• Establish, document, and implement bookkeeping quality standards that align with GAAP.
• Perform routine quality audits on client accounts and transform the results into coaching opportunities.
• Handle new account setups, undertake clean-up projects, and finalize monthly book closures.
• Execute bank and credit card data imports, manage journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, categorize transactions, and review and correct the general ledger.
• Act as the primary escalation point for intricate customer issues related to payroll, payroll tax, and accounting matters.
• Monitor and report on team performance, quality metrics, and capacity to the Head of Operations.
• Represent the Bookkeeping team in interactions with Accounting, Product, and other internal teams regarding workflows, tools, and challenges.
• Evaluate processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and minimize manual tasks.
• Collaborate with the Training Department to create new-hire training and ongoing education materials.
• Mentor and develop team members through regular one-on-one meetings and performance assessments.
• Participate in the recruitment and hiring process for new team members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and manage the disciplinary process as necessary.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and embody Patriot’s core values.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Over 3 years of practical bookkeeping experience, encompassing monthly closes, reconciliations, and clean-up initiatives.
• At least 2 years of experience in managing or leading a team, which includes providing coaching, performance feedback, and accountability discussions.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles as they apply in the USA, along with payroll and payroll tax knowledge.
• Capability to review financial records, identify discrepancies or incomplete tasks, and articulate necessary corrections.
• Good judgment and confidence to address work that falls short of standards.
• Ability to clearly and honestly report on team performance using data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interactions with employees and customers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage escalated customer issues and follow up with clients effectively.
• Comfortable with technology and adept at quickly learning new software and tools.
• Ability to maintain composure and focus on solutions during challenging situations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Willingness to accept and apply constructive feedback.
