Senior BI Platform and Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee administration, governance, and technical architecture of enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.

• Manage the installation, configuration, administration, patching, and lifecycle management of BI platforms.

• Administer SSAS, SSRS, Power BI Gateway servers, and settings and capacities of the Power BI Service tenant.

• Lead the development, maintenance, and support of enterprise BI solutions.

• Design and sustain both semantic and SSAS Tabular models.

• Create and maintain Power BI datasets, dashboards, reports, and paginated reports.

• Integrate analytics with data warehouses, Azure Data Lakes, and Power BI Dataflows.

• Automate processes using PowerShell and Power Automate across on-premises and Azure environments.

• Oversee tenant-to-tenant migrations in Power BI, including the migration of workspaces, datasets, reports, and apps.

• Validate gateways, security models, tenant configurations, data accuracy, refresh reliability, performance, and access controls post-migration.

• Collaborate with teams in Azure AD, security, infrastructure, data engineering, and business units.

• Engage in requirements gathering, solution design, architecture planning, development, QA, deployment, and training.

• Establish BI standards, governance frameworks, and best practices; assess technologies and conduct proof-of-concepts.

• Monitor and resolve platform and reporting issues, perform root cause analyses, and offer after-hours support when necessary.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation that encompasses architecture, processes, and standards.

• Mentor team members, assist in workload planning, and promote continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• 7+ years of experience in Microsoft Power BI development, administration, and governance.

• 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise BI/data warehouse environments.

• 5+ years of experience with SSAS Tabular and SSRS.

• Strong experience managing Power BI Service, gateways, SSAS, and SSRS.

• Proficiency in environment setup, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management of platforms.

• Experience collaborating with Azure AD, service principals, security, and access governance.

• Expertise in PowerShell scripting and Power Automate.

• Extensive experience in designing complex semantic models and SSAS Tabular models.

• Experience in developing Power BI datasets, reports, dashboards, and paginated reports.

• Familiarity with Azure Data Lake/Lakehouse architecture and Power BI Dataflows.

• Strong understanding of enterprise data warehouses, data modeling, and data consumption patterns.

• Experience planning and executing Power BI tenant-to-tenant migrations.

• Knowledge of migration tools, APIs, scripting, and Power BI deployment pipelines.

• Strong SQL skills, including query development, tuning, and performance optimization.

• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and related database technologies.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, written, and presentation skills.

• Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and business audiences.

• Strong customer service orientation and capability for cross-functional collaboration.
