This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +12 more states.
• Oversee public pension programs, state-required retirement reporting, and compliance processes for charter school clients.
• Maintain documentation for retirement plans and ensure adherence to STRS and PERS regulations and reporting obligations.
• Act as the primary contact for County Offices of Education, CalSTRS, and CalPERS.
• Address escalated STRS and PERS issues and rectify reporting discrepancies.
• Audit, process, reconcile, and amend STRS, PERS, and benefit contributions.
• Input and update CalPERS contributions within the CalPERS system.
• Oversee and manage CalSTRS and CROWE audits.
• Upload F496 files to SEW, rectify Macro text file errors, and submit necessary reports.
• Track changes to compensation limits and inform clients accordingly.
• Investigate STRS membership categories for new hires and ensure precise enrollment.
• Manage client open enrollment activities, rate adjustments, enrollments, terminations, and plan modifications.
• Assist clients and employees with inquiries regarding benefits, eligibility, enrollments, and coverage options.
• Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve enrollment and billing challenges.
• Collaborate with Payroll and HR teams regarding benefits deductions and compliance matters.
• Generate reports and maintain records for benefits and retirement enrollments.
• Provide advice to Payroll Specialists on benefits deductions and retirement reporting processes.
• Support new hire processing, employee modifications, and payroll-related benefits deductions.
• Communicate with clients concerning missing documents, benefit selections, and compliance updates.
• Generate reports and assist with payroll entries related to benefits.
• Conduct training sessions for internal staff on best practices for retirement and benefits.
• High school diploma is mandatory.
• A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
• At least two (2) years of experience in retirement plan administration, benefits administration, or payroll processing.
• Strong knowledge of CalSTRS, CalPERS, and 403(b) retirement plans.
• Experience with employee benefits administration, open enrollment procedures, and compliance.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to analyze data, resolve non-routine issues, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with payroll processing systems such as Paycor, ADP, UKG, Paylocity, Frontline, or Paychex is a plus.
• Experience with Sage Intacct / Abila Non-Profit Accounting is advantageous.
• Knowledge of payroll compliance in non-profit and charter school settings is a plus.
