Senior Backend Engineer – Taxes Module

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Assume responsibility for the Taxes module within the Billing team.

• Develop tax calculation and reporting mechanisms.

• Integrate with external tax service providers.

• Enhance system reliability and availability.

• Make architectural choices and establish the technical direction.

• Provide mentorship to engineers as the team expands.

• Deliver essential tax functionalities within the initial months.

• Establish a strong foundation for future product and team development.

• Create and uphold automated unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end tests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of backend engineering experience in Go, PHP, Kotlin, Java, or Python.

• Deep understanding of designing high-load systems.

• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with queues or streaming technologies.

• Strong emphasis on a testing culture: unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing.

• Proactive, self-sufficient, and results-focused approach.

• Experience with Kafka is advantageous.

• Experience with AWS services is a plus.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines is beneficial.

• Background in fintech, payments, or the financial sector is a plus.

• Understanding of VAT, GST, or Sales Tax is a plus.

• Experience in team management is a plus.
