Senior Backend Engineer – Mobility

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Create advanced event-driven microservices that drive M-KOPA Mobility's mission of providing clean, affordable transportation.

• Take ownership of solutions from inception to completion, including architecture design, production monitoring, and decommissioning.

• Develop backend systems using C#/.NET.

• Work with Azure cloud services and utilize messaging technologies such as Service Bus.

• Design and implement microservice architectures.

• Employ Kubernetes and Docker for containerization and orchestration.

• Establish observability and monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana.

• Implement DevOps practices, including infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and continuous delivery.

• Collaborate with engineering teams across Africa, Europe, and the UK.

• Contribute to technology that fosters financial inclusion and promotes clean transportation throughout Africa.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid understanding of C# .NET development.

• Experience with event-driven architectures, including Service Bus or similar messaging technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Background in microservices architecture.

• Familiarity with Azure or other leading cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.

• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools, including Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.

• Proficiency in testing and deployment processes.

• A mindset aligned with DevOps culture.

• Experience using AI coding tools, preferably Claude Code or comparable technologies.

• Comfort in working within a team that owns the complete software stack, including supporting infrastructure, throughout the software lifecycle.

• Openness to embracing continuous delivery, testing, and observability as fundamental engineering priorities.

• Candidates must successfully complete pre-employment background checks.
