Senior Backend Engineer, Python, Django

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Create and implement scalable data ingestion pipelines for file-based and API data sources utilizing Python.

• Develop and sustain backend components for data processing, validation, and integration.

• Design and create REST APIs using Python and Django.

• Establish robust mechanisms for data quality, validation, and error handling.

• Design and manage data models while working with contemporary cloud data platforms and warehouses.

• Create and maintain automated data quality tests.

• Utilize cloud services and workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and the configuration of application environments.

• Ensure that solutions are reliable, maintainable, scalable, and ready for production.

• Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.

• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into effective solutions.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools and workflows in everyday software delivery.

• Engage in a greenfield data platform and potentially other data projects related to automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, BigQuery, Looker, Spark, Cloudera, Iceberg, AWS, Azure, and Databricks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of commercial experience in Backend Engineering, Data Engineering, or developing production data-intensive systems.

• Proficient programming skills in Python, emphasizing clean code and solid software engineering practices.

• Practical commercial experience with Django and developing REST APIs.

• Experience in designing and building data ingestion / ETL or ELT pipelines from file-based and API sources.

• Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms or warehouses, such as Snowflake or Databricks.

• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or equivalent.

• Strong understanding of data validation, data quality, and error-handling design principles.

• Experience working within CI/CD and production environments.

• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for technical deliverables.

• Experience using AI coding assistants or AI-enhanced development workflows.

• Exceptional communication skills and capability to document technical decisions clearly.

• Fluent in English (minimum C1 level).
