Senior Backend Engineer, Python, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable backend services utilizing Java and Python.

• Create distributed systems that incorporate databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.

• Take ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, monitoring, and optimization.

• Construct production-ready systems with an emphasis on reliability, performance, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to convert business needs into technical solutions.

• Enhance system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code quality and adhering to engineering best practices.

• Engage in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions.

• Consistently refine development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in software engineering or backend development.

• More than 5 years of professional experience in Python, building production-grade backend systems.

• Strong proficiency in Java.

• Practical experience with AI/LLM-based application development, including AI agents, agentic systems, or LLM-powered applications.

• Experience in creating AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows in production environments is highly desirable.

• In-depth understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.

• Familiarity with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production settings.

• Demonstrated experience in building, maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing products post-launch.

• Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and the ability to excel in startup or fast-paced environments.

• Advanced level of English.

• Preferred: Experience in product-focused companies, cybersecurity products, Kafka/RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems, large-scale distributed data processing, high-growth startups or scale-ups, and large technology firms.
