Senior Backend Engineer, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA teams to conceptualize, design, and launch impactful features.

• Architect and develop scalable, high-performance backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, reliable, and testable code.

• Integrate third-party services and APIs while ensuring robust error handling and graceful degradation.

• Improve system performance and developer experience through automation and refactoring efforts.

• Diagnose and address complex issues throughout the technology stack.

• Spot opportunities for technical enhancements.

• Participate in code reviews and engage in architecture discussions.

• Advocate for engineering best practices within the team.

• Document technical decisions, systems, and processes comprehensively.

• Work with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and AWS Cloud Infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development.

• Profound expertise in Java and Spring Boot.

• Strong understanding of modern backend architecture and engineering best practices.

• Experience in designing, building, and scaling web services, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong knowledge of relational databases and ORM frameworks like Hibernate.

• Experience with frontend technologies such as AngularJS or React is an advantage.

• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong communication abilities and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
