This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium, +5 more states.
• Design and develop resilient backend services and APIs in Java for a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
• Deliver product features from inception to completion and collaborate closely with both product teams and customers on development priorities.
• Enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of the services you manage.
• Oversee services in production on the AWS/Kubernetes platform.
• Sustain CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and observability systems.
• Optimize CI feedback speed, ensure dependable development environments, and establish guidelines for autonomous development.
• Lead architectural decisions regarding service design and the evolution of the platform.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend software development at a product-focused company.
• Proficient in Java, with expertise in APIs, asynchronous processing, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Strong SQL skills within a backend context, covering schema design, query optimization, and production migrations.
• Possess architectural insight on API and service design, data flow, query patterns, latency, and failure scenarios.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and AWS, including EKS, IAM, networking, RDS, and S3.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code practices, including GitHub Actions, ArgoCD or Flux, Terraform or Pulumi, and scripting.
• Observability experience encompassing metrics, logging, and tracing with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Proven experience in writing tests.
• Practical experience in deploying code with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Cursor.
• Capacity to work autonomously within a distributed, asynchronous team spanning over 12 countries.
• Proficient in English.
• Nice to have: experience with multi-tenant SaaS at scale, working in high-growth startups, Python proficiency, experience in regulated environments, agentic workflows, and expertise in data quality, data management, data observability, or ML monitoring.
• Compensation package ranging from €85,000 to €120,000 per year + equity.
