Senior Backend Engineer II – IPC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Play a key role in making technical design choices for IPC services, ensuring a balance between rapid delivery and long-term sustainability.

• Develop, construct, and manage backend services utilizing Python, PostgreSQL, Go, and a Java-based Drools rules engine.

• Collaborate with other engineering teams at Bestow on platform integration projects.

• Create platform capabilities to facilitate carrier onboarding, product launches, and adaptable configurations.

• Guide engineers through code reviews, design evaluations, and collaborative programming sessions.

• Oversee and enhance production service level objectives (SLOs).

• Enhance observability and share on-call duties for IPC workloads.

• Integrate agentic AI coding tools as a fundamental aspect of the workflow and assist in developing AI-enhanced practices.

• Clearly articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, and project status in writing within a primarily remote, asynchronous team environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in backend software development at a Senior level.

• Strong expertise in Go and Python; familiarity with Java is advantageous.

• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design.

• Knowledge of Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI.

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases at scale.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud services.

• Proven ability in building, deploying, and troubleshooting production services from start to finish.

• Capability to proactively identify risks, suggest solutions, and drive projects to completion.

• Competence in writing maintainable, thoroughly tested software while adhering to high quality standards.

• Regular hands-on experience with agentic AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.

• Must reside within the contiguous 48 states of the U.S.

• Must be eligible for full-time work in the U.S.; any visa sponsorship requirements should be disclosed.
