This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +6 more countries.
β’ Develop and manage the Data API boundary featuring clean, versioned, and efficient endpoints.
β’ Create APIs for internal dashboards, customer-facing functionalities, and third-party integrations like Fivetran connectors.
β’ Design and enhance Postgres and future OLAP read models, including indexes and caching strategies.
β’ Construct integrations with Kotlin-based product backend services.
β’ Take responsibility for monitoring, incident response, reliability, performance, and service level objectives (SLOs) for customer-facing services.
β’ Define contracts between ingestion/aggregation systems and the serving database in collaboration with Data Engineers.
β’ Implement security measures for APIs using established authentication and authorization protocols.
β’ Develop a near-real-time data aggregation service spanning Pleo services.
β’ Design capabilities for metadata, lineage, and governance.
β’ Manage access control and permission oversight, including row- and column-level access and audit trails.
β’ Establish the production version of the Reporting API, including contracts, versioning, SLOs, tenant isolation, and security model.
β’ Proven backend engineering experience in building and managing reporting and analytics API services along with serving-layer infrastructure.
β’ Familiarity with reliability, latency, and SLOs.
β’ Experience in owning API boundary layers, encompassing endpoint design, versioning, contract stability, and safeguarding consumers from raw data sources.
β’ Proficient in read-heavy systems, relational database optimization, indexing, materialized views, caching, and API performance enhancement.
β’ Strong SQL querying capabilities and a solid understanding of database fundamentals across SQL and non-SQL systems.
β’ Extensive expertise in Kafka.
β’ Significant experience with a JVM-based language; Pleo's product backend utilizes Kotlin.
β’ Experience with AWS or GCP and Kubernetes, including the configuration, deployment, and operation of containerized applications within a Kubernetes environment.
β’ Background in working across data systems and product backend services.
β’ Ability to work swiftly and independently in a hands-on delivery capacity.
β’ Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated product environments.
β’ Valid right to work in the specified country.
β’ Application in English and capability to use English as the primary company language.
