Senior Backend Engineer, Billing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop systems that establish plans, pricing, entitlements, and limits, which are accessible via the API.

• Break down billing processes from the monolithic structure into accurate, testable, and independently deployable services.

• Ensure comprehensive correctness for usage metering, reconciliation, invoices, and customer-facing usage data.

• Manage the functioning of built systems through SLOs, alerting, on-call duties, and addressing root causes.

• Propel the modernization of LaunchDarkly’s billing platform.

• Collaborate with integrations related to billing, CRM, and finance systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience, focusing on complex backend applications.

• Proven experience in decomposing monolithic systems.

• Demonstrated history with systems where correctness is imperative.

• Understanding of idempotency, reconciliation, reversible migrations, and safe cutovers.

• Proficient in at least one backend programming language, such as Go, Rust, or Python.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, including AWS or similar platforms.

• Strong ownership of production systems, including on-call responsibilities.

• Experience with billing, payments, metering systems, usage-based pricing, entitlement modeling, quotas, or multi-tenant limits is considered a plus.
