Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Macedonia.

📋 Description

• Create and develop highly scalable, resilient, and secure microservices.

• Design and implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

• Integrate business databases, third-party services, and legacy systems with advanced AI engines.

• Enhance backend service latency and resource allocation for real-time AI model hosting and inference.

• Implement enterprise-level authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and rate-limiting protocols.

• Establish and maintain coding standards.

• Develop thorough integration tests.

• Perform code reviews.

• Collaborate with AI engineers to deploy model weights and microservices within integrated Docker environments.

• Connect applications with cloud-hosted services and APIs.

• Assist in delivering AI, automation, AML, KYC, fraud-prevention, and advanced analytics solutions for banking and insurance clients across Europe.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in backend/platform engineering.

• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js.

• Expertise in developing scalable, resilient, and secure cloud applications.

• AWS experience is required; Azure knowledge is a plus.

• Experience in designing and implementing authentication, RBAC, and security best practices.

• Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.

• Previous involvement in large-scale enterprise environments and mission-critical systems.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Experience in fintech or financial services is preferred.

• Full-time availability, 40 hours per week.

• Willingness to consider an individual contractor or B2B work arrangement.

• Availability to work remotely or in a hybrid setup.
