This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.
• Design, implement, and enhance product functionalities while addressing complex backend challenges.
• Shape the technical and product vision of teams.
• Enhance the quality, reliability, and performance of systems.
• Collaborate across product, frontend, infrastructure, data, and security domains.
• Create and deploy moderate to intricate backend features with minimal guidance.
• Make informed decisions among modular-monolith code, shared components, and independently operated services.
• Establish backend standards for style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness.
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers, helping to remove technical obstacles.
• Enhance team delivery practices through code and design reviews.
• Identify and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale.
• Engage in incident response and serve as a technical owner when suitable.
• Leverage AI in production engineering tasks, assess its effectiveness, and guide others on responsible usage.
• Strong expertise in backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance optimization.
• Proficient in contemporary backend programming languages.
• In-depth knowledge of systems programming.
• Experience in designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures.
• Ability to lead through influence, technical acumen, and effective written communication.
• Demonstrated experience in building or managing agentic systems in production environments.
• Experience in architecting agentic AI loops, tool utilization, and error-handling strategies for reliability at scale.
• Beneficial experience with high-throughput distributed systems, concurrency, or profiling.
• Valuable hands-on experience with containerized production operations, such as Kubernetes.
• Useful knowledge of database performance, including PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, schema evolution, and partitioning.
• Helpful background in large-scale modular monoliths or event-driven systems.
