Senior Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance high-performance backend services and APIs utilizing Kotlin and Spring Boot, crafted for reliability, minimal latency, and scalability.

• Manage the complete lifecycle of features, from technical design and implementation through to monitoring and ensuring optimal operation in production.

• Create and sustain checkout payment workflows, encompassing authorization, capture, refunds, reversals, and partial payments across diverse payment providers and regions.

• Architect and implement robust microservices employing event-driven patterns (Kafka, queues) to manage asynchronous payment processing with zero data loss.

• Strengthen and broaden the integration framework linking Yuno to PSPs, acquirers, and payment gateways across various countries and intricate payment rails.

• Utilize OWASP principles and engineering best practices to guarantee excellence in security, privacy, and PCI-DSS compliance.

• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Business teams to convert real payment challenges into elegant, scalable technical solutions.

• Actively engage in code reviews, architectural decisions, and technical discussions that influence the platform's direction.

• Foster a culture of technical excellence by writing clean, well-tested, production-ready code with a strong emphasis on quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional backend development experience.

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and deep expertise in Spring Boot, along with solid knowledge of payment processing concepts.

• Comprehensive understanding of microservices architectures, with experience in building and operating them.

• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and data modeling tailored for financial systems.

• Experience in containerization and cloud infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or GCP).

• Strong command of unit, integration, and contract testing methodologies.

• Fluent in written and verbal communication in English.

• Background in a fintech, neobank, or payment orchestration environment.

• Familiarity with PCI-DSS, PSD2, or 3DS authentication frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with Kafka or other event streaming platforms.

• Knowledge of network tokenization, smart routing, or payment optimization strategies.

• Experience with observability tools (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing).

• Prior experience in a high-growth startup operating across multiple markets.
