This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.
• Design and develop robust, scalable backend services and data pipelines.
• Promote engineering best practices regarding testing, code quality, performance, and security.
• Enhance system observability and engage in troubleshooting and resolving production challenges.
• Construct and oversee data ingestion services utilizing APIs and batch file processing.
• Revamp legacy workflows by substituting manual or spreadsheet-based processes with automated, resilient systems.
• Create internal dashboards and services that deliver real-time operational and business insights.
• Implement automation to minimize manual investigation and support self-service for internal stakeholders.
• Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and data quality assessments across backend pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and operations teams to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.
• Contribute to the technical direction and planning of the roadmap.
• Proficient in English, both written and oral (minimum B2-C1 level), with exceptional communication skills.
• Over 5 years of professional software development experience, showcasing expertise in backend development and data engineering.
• Solid background in backend engineering.
• Capability to deliver iterative and practical technical solutions.
• Ability to function in dynamic environments while upholding high engineering standards.
• Eagerness to take ownership, learn from setbacks, and continually enhance systems and processes.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and spearhead technical initiatives across teams.
• Proficient in Python.
• Proficient in SQL.
• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, with a preference for PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Snowflake or similar data warehouse tools.
• Experience in deploying and managing applications on AWS.
• Experience with CDK, Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent tools.
• Ability to design scalable, reliable, and high-performance distributed systems.
• Strong grasp of software architecture patterns, microservices, and API design (REST, GraphQL).
• Working knowledge of security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, and secure service design.
• Experience with unit testing and integration testing.
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow or similar data pipeline/orchestration tools is a plus but not mandatory.
