Senior Back End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and dependable server-side applications using C# and the .NET framework.

• Create and implement secure RESTful APIs and microservices for client applications, payment solutions, and system integrations.

• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and engineers to convert business needs into technical solutions.

• Design, implement, and sustain distributed systems that consist of multiple domain-oriented services.

• Conduct testing, debugging, and code reviews.

• Enhance application performance, scalability, and reliability through code enhancements, caching strategies, and database optimization.

• Design, write, and refine SQL queries.

• Work with both relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and SQL Server.

• Contribute to deployment and maintenance efforts using cloud platforms, containerization technologies, and orchestration tools.

• Apply object-oriented programming principles, software design patterns, and best practices in backend development.

• Enhance development processes, system architecture, and delivery efficiency in collaboration with engineering teams.

• Stay updated with emerging technologies and contribute to the ongoing improvement of backend engineering practices.

• Complete a project-specific technical assessment, if necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend software engineering, backend development, or a comparable role.

• Strong practical experience with C# and the .NET framework.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Understanding of distributed systems and architectures that involve multiple domain-oriented services.

• Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and SQL Server, including writing and optimizing SQL queries.

• Knowledge of NoSQL databases and data management concepts.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Familiarity with Git and version control practices.

• Experience with Docker and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.

• Strong grasp of object-oriented programming (OOP), software design patterns, and clean code principles.

• Understanding of frontend technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot complex technical challenges.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional and international engineering teams.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

• Experience with distributed systems and messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ (preferred).

• Familiarity with caching technologies such as Redis (preferred).

• Experience using gRPC for service-to-service communication (preferred).

• Knowledge of service discovery and distributed coordination tools like Consul and etcd (preferred).

• Familiarity with Orleans or similar technologies for developing distributed applications (preferred).

• Experience working on payment systems, payment integrations, or other high-availability, business-critical backend applications (preferred).
