Senior AWS Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review technical designs, architectural proposals, and implementation workflows while providing criteria and recommendations.

• Guide and support the technical team in inquiries, decision-making, and architectural challenge resolutions.

• Assist the team in implementing AWS best practices, considering security, permissions, costs, scalability, and operations.

• Support the definition and evolution of standards for Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures.

• Participate in decisions related to serverless architectures, automation, and layered architectures.

• Define and review criteria concerning data layers, storage formats, table formats, partitioning, and query optimization.

• Contribute to cloud data governance, including cataloging, data context, domains, quality, and freshness.

• Support the junior architect and the rest of the team to enhance the technical quality of solutions.

• Collaborate closely with a team composed of engineers and analysts.

• Provide technical judgment, practical experience, and execution capability in architectural decisions, technical standards, and cloud best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior experience in Cloud Architecture, Data Architecture, Big Data, or related positions.

• Hands-on practical experience working with AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Lambdas, Step Functions, IAM, Lake Formation).

• Experience applying best practices for security, permissions, costs, and scalability in AWS.

• Experience with serverless architectures and automation.

• Experience designing or working with Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures.

• Knowledge of layered architectures and data organization.

• Familiarity with Parquet, partitioning, and query optimization.

• Experience defining standards for naming conventions, directories, databases, and tables.

• Experience or knowledge in data catalogs, table contexts, domains, data quality, and freshness.

• Ability to generate standardized technical documentation, including templates, diagrams, checklists, and acceptance criteria.

• Capability to review designs and architectural proposals, translating them into actionable technical recommendations.

• A plus: experience with Apache Iceberg.

• A plus: experience in modern Lakehouse architectures.

• A plus: experience working with Data Engineering and Big Data teams.

• A plus: experience as a technical reference or mentor for junior profiles.

• A plus: experience defining standards and frameworks for data architecture in organizations.

• A plus: experience in environments requiring a balance of security, performance, scalability, and costs.
