Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Design and construct scalable data infrastructure capable of handling hundreds of gigabytes to terabytes of guest data.

• Transfer, transform, and ensure data accessibility for the frontend application as well as machine learning and AI pipelines.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design and develop scalable data pipelines.

• Create and implement ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines at a large scale.

• Oversee data pipelines from start to finish.

• Develop tools and abstractions for analytics, recommendations, and machine learning.

• Build data orchestration and streaming pipelines.

• Establish reusable data resources and design patterns in close cooperation with product teams.

• Define the data foundation for Bookboost’s hospitality engagement platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data engineering.

• Experience managing production systems that you have owned rather than merely contributed to.

• Strong engineering abilities, particularly in distributed data processing.

• Proficiency with AWS and PySpark.

• Excellent quantitative skills and experience in estimating performance at scale.

• Knowledge of cloud-based data services, such as AWS and RDS.

• Familiarity with containerized infrastructure, including ECS and Docker.

• Understanding of data movement techniques, including batch, CDC, streamed, and batch transformations.

• Regular usage of AI tools for coding, documentation, and pipeline logic.

• Comfortable constructing data infrastructure that supports ML and AI functionalities.

• Self-driven, with a strong sense of accountability for systems and designs.
