Senior AWS Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the platform engineering strategy, roadmap, and outcomes of delivery.

• Promote the use of CI/CD templates, reusable modules, golden paths, and standardized environments.

• Create Infrastructure as Code frameworks featuring reusable, versioned modules.

• Design and oversee multi-account AWS environments with governance, security guardrails, and automated onboarding processes.

• Facilitate self-service infrastructure, pipelines, and services via developer portals and APIs.

• Implement centralized observability for logs, metrics, and traces.

• Set and uphold standards for security, compliance, cost efficiency, and reliability.

• Collaborate with application engineering teams to integrate them into the platform.

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for microservices, event-driven architectures, serverless technologies, and container platforms.

• Lead initiatives focused on reliability that involve SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and resilience engineering.

• Manage risks, dependencies, and trade-offs across the system.

• Work with architects to develop scalable data and integration patterns.

• Provide mentorship to platform engineers and DevOps teams.

• Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for platform adoption, developer productivity, deployment efficiency, and operational maturity.

• Connect infrastructure, security, and application teams to foster a platform-first engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or Business/Technology Management, or equivalent experience.

• Significant experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles, particularly focused on scaling internal platforms.

• Profound knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, EKS/ECS, S3, VPC, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.

• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation, including the creation of reusable modules and frameworks.

• Familiarity with Backstage or similar developer portals and self-service tools.

• Advanced knowledge of CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS-native services.

• Understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM, KMS, secrets management, network isolation, and compliance enforcement.

• Experience managing multi-account AWS environments with centralized governance, logging, and monitoring capabilities.

• Practical experience with Datadog, ELK, and CloudWatch, along with establishing SLO-driven monitoring practices.

• Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.

• Awareness of developer experience principles.

• Proficient in Python, Bash, or other scripting and automation languages.

• Demonstrated capability to persuade engineering teams to adopt platform standards and practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills.
