Senior Automation Software Tester, MSR team

📋 Description

• Contribute to the comprehensive QA strategy for Mirantis Secure Registry, Kubernetes, and cloud-native ecosystems.

• Assess and advocate for testing methodologies and frameworks tailored for distributed systems.

• Spearhead risk assessment and testing strategy for extensive, multi-cloud registry, infrastructure, and container orchestration.

• Design testing frameworks and infrastructure for microservices and infrastructure components across multi-cluster and hybrid-cloud settings.

• Manage intricate test scenarios that replicate production workloads, resource scaling, failure injection, and recovery across distributed clusters.

• Create scalable and maintainable test automation that integrates with CI/CD systems like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.

• Utilize Kubernetes APIs, Helm, and service mesh tools to automate system health, failover, and network resilience.

• Encourage the establishment of repeatable, extensible, and reliable infrastructure-as-code testing frameworks.

• Guide QA engineers and developers in risk-based testing, chaos engineering, performance testing, and load testing methodologies.

• Act as the QA authority during design evaluations, production readiness assessments, and incident retrospectives.

• Partner with DevOps engineers to enhance monitoring, alerting, and debugging strategies for CI/CD test automation.

• Set quality gates, release readiness metrics, and create data-driven feedback loops.

• Incorporate performance, security, and chaos testing within the development lifecycle.

• Champion quality across teams and influence architectural decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in software testing or quality engineering roles.

• At least 4 years focused on Kubernetes, cloud-native applications, and distributed systems.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in developing and scaling test strategies in enterprise-grade environments.

• Profound understanding of Kubernetes internals, cluster lifecycle management, Helm, service meshes, and network policies.

• Strong skills in scripting and automation, particularly with Python, Pytest, and Bash.

• Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Kubernetes security, and performance benchmarking tools like K6.

• Solid foundation in AWS, Azure, GCP, infrastructure provisioning, and containerized CI/CD processes.

• Moderate to advanced knowledge of Linux and proficiency is required.

• Experience with Bash scripting and debugging, systemd/logs, networking, firewalling, routing, certificate/PKI management, Docker/containerd, kubectl/Helm with OCI registries, and GitOps/Flux.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and architectural thinking.

• Experience in influencing cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for both technical and executive-level audiences.

• Experience mentoring and coaching one or more junior team members.

• Preferred: Contributions to open-source Kubernetes or QA tooling initiatives.

• Preferred: Experience with chaos engineering in Kubernetes environments.

• Preferred: CKA, CKAD, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certifications.
