Senior Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement an API automation strategy that aligns with the organization's quality objectives.

• Identify and recommend testing methodologies, tools, and technologies to enhance QA efficiency and effectiveness.

• Design, create, and maintain scalable API automation frameworks utilizing Java, RestAssured or Karate, and BDD principles.

• Write automation scripts to validate API functionality, performance, and security.

• Implement data-driven testing and reusable automation frameworks.

• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.

• Conduct API testing and exploration with tools like Postman, Swagger, Hoppscotch, or ReadyAPI.

• Apply principles of API security testing and ensure data quality validation, including for large datasets.

• Utilize AI models and configure AI agents to assist in test design, execution, and analysis.

• Create, organize, and maintain test cases, catalogs, and test sets within Xray.

• Integrate Xray with Jira to ensure traceability and report on test execution and outcomes.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, architects, stakeholders, and integration partners to guarantee testability.

• Engage in design, architecture, and Agile ceremonies to identify quality risks.

• Communicate test results and quality metrics effectively.

• Establish QA guidelines, review code, enforce secure coding practices, and maintain a minimum of 70% code coverage.

• Write and maintain unit tests using JUnit or TestNG.

• Complete coding tasks under the mentorship of a Technical Architect and contribute to system design efforts.

• Conduct testing on Spring Boot and Spring Cloud microservices, REST APIs, and dependency-injection components on GCP utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.

• Validate both relational and NoSQL data.

• Troubleshoot operational issues and utilize monitoring/logging tools to diagnose problems.

• Optionally implement contract testing, performance testing, and scenarios focused on eCommerce.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 8–12 years of experience in software development and quality assurance, with a significant emphasis on API automation.

• Experience working in Agile teams and engaging in sprint ceremonies.

• Extensive hands-on experience with RestAssured for API testing.

• Proficiency in BDD frameworks such as Cucumber/Gherkin.

• Familiarity with API testing tools including Postman, Swagger, Hoppscotch, or ReadyAPI.

• Knowledge of API security testing principles and tools, such as OWASP.

• Experience in designing data-driven tests and constructing reusable automation frameworks.

• Understanding of AI models and their applications; experience with AI models for test cases and scenarios.

• Experience in setting up AI agents for test automation.

• Strong expertise in Java and associated open-source technologies.

• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud for microservices.

• Working knowledge of dependency injection, RESTful APIs, and core Spring concepts.

• Understanding of cloud-native technologies and architectures.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.

• Experience with JUnit and TestNG.

• Proficiency with Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA.

• Experience using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.

• Strong working knowledge of Jira and Xray.

• Experience creating Xray test cases, catalogs, and test sets, along with Xray-Jira integration.

• Proficient in using Git, Confluence/SharePoint, and Jira for documentation, scripts, results, and configuration.

• Basic understanding of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.

• Experience in data quality testing and handling large datasets.

• Proficiency with Git and experience with GitHub, Bitbucket, or GitLab.

• Ability to adhere to secure coding practices and maintain a minimum of 70% code coverage.

• Experience in reviewing code and managing test plans, procedures, and scripts.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Ability to manage operational issues with minimal supervision.

• Nice to have: Experience with Pact, JMeter, Gatling, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and knowledge of the eCommerce domain.
