QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the quality assurance process from start to finish and develop the automated testing framework through hands-on involvement.

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of a large, approximately 10-year-old, multi-repository system, including how it operates from the perspectives of clients, end-users, and internal processes.

• Formulate insightful questions and document the expected behavior, especially where existing documentation is partially outdated.

• Create English-readable scenarios utilizing Cucumber and Gherkin.

• Develop automation scripts in JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Navigate the UI using a page object model.

• Incorporate data-test-ids into React code where they are absent.

• Verify the correct state of the database using SQL.

• Update automated tests as new features are introduced.

• Contribute to the requirements at the outset of new feature planning.

• Identify compliance, regulatory, and security considerations.

• Conduct exploratory testing to uncover instances of incorrect product behavior.

• Enhance reliability and facilitate quicker, safer releases through automation.

• Accurately reproduce complex defects and identify edge cases.

• Establish a repeatable, documented quality assurance process starting from an unreliable foundation.

• Determine the expected system behavior from various user perspectives and identify potential failure points.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years experience in quality assurance or test automation, with hands-on proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.

• At least 4 years of practical experience in test automation coding using TypeScript or JavaScript.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Behavior Driven Development (BDD) test authoring with Cucumber and Gherkin.

• Over 3 years of experience in web UI test automation using a page object model, preferably with Playwright.

• At least 2 years of ownership of end-to-end QA processes, including defining, documenting, creating, and maintaining tests.

• More than 3 years of experience in requirements analysis and effective communication with stakeholders.

• A minimum of 2 years of SQL querying experience for validating database states, specifically with MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Over 3 years of experience in exploratory testing and accurately reproducing multi-step defects.

• Ability to drive automation initiatives and take ownership of the build process with minimal guidance.

• Strong attention to detail, with the capability to identify edge cases and gaps in specifications.

• Proficiency in hands-on JavaScript or TypeScript automation coding is essential; a willingness to learn is not adequate.
