Automation Engineer – DERMS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and resolve Level 1 support tickets for ETAP real-time automation and control solutions on a global scale through Jira.

• Achieve a target response and resolution time of 24 hours for standard incidents.

• Conduct initial diagnosis by reproducing issues, identifying root causes, and determining whether problems are related to configuration, integration, or product-level, followed by resolving or routing them appropriately.

• Troubleshoot Intelligent Load Shedding schemes, which include load preservation, restoration, and validation logic for shedding.

• Address issues related to Automatic Generation Control functions, such as load frequency control, area control error, and generator power sharing.

• Provide extensive support for DERMS solutions, encompassing microgrid and power plant control systems.

• Communicate solutions, root causes, and subsequent steps to global clients and regional teams in proficient written English.

• Maintain and enhance the Global Support knowledge base.

• Prepare thorough pre-diagnosis documentation prior to escalating cases to Level 2.

• Collaborate with Global Support leadership regarding ticket priorities, visibility on status, and decisions on escalation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English at an advanced level (C1 or higher).

• Proven hands-on experience in delivering or supporting ETAP Intelligent Load Shedding (ILS) and Automatic Generation Control (AGC) projects.

• Familiarity with eSCADA and PSMS is essential.

• Previous experience in executing ETAP projects or providing technical support in a client-facing role.

• Strong systematic and methodical troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent written communication abilities.

• Capability to manage multiple concurrent support cases across various clients, priorities, and time zones.

• Familiarity with ETAP uGrid (Microgrid Controller) or Power Plant Controller (PPC) is advantageous.

• Practical experience with DNP3, Modbus, or IEC 61850 is a plus.

• Experience with Jira or similar ticketing systems is beneficial.

• Background in utility, generation, or industrial environments is preferred.

• Successful candidates must pass a thorough background check.

• Proof of work authorization may be necessary as part of the background verification process.
