Senior Associate 3D Technical Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop high-quality 3D assets encompassing apparel, footwear, accessories, and hard goods.

• Create realistic, production-ready 3D models and rendered assets that accurately represent product intent, materials, fit, and construction.

• Facilitate product development, visualization, and digital transformation initiatives.

• Expand and oversee 3D asset libraries across various product categories.

• Convert 3D assets between different platforms and applications.

• Optimize textures and UV maps, preparing assets for web, animation, and other digital experiences.

• Coordinate efforts for fabric digitization.

• Assist in garment fit analysis.

• Establish standards, workflows, and best practices for 3D product creation.

• Investigate emerging technologies, tools, and workflows for product visualization and development.

• Collaborate with Design, Technical Design, Product Creation, and other cross-functional teams.

• Enhance efficiency, accelerate product development timelines, and promote 3D adoption across the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, 3D Design, Apparel Design, Footwear Design, Accessories Design, or a related field with a focus on digital modeling, rendering, sculpting, or product creation.

• Over 3 years of experience in product design, industrial design, apparel, footwear, accessories, hard goods, or a related design discipline.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in designing, modeling, sculpting, rendering, and developing assets using professional 3D digital applications.

• Advanced 3D design skills applicable to apparel, footwear, accessories, and hard goods.

• Proven experience in creating high-quality, photorealistic rendered assets and digital product visualizations.

• Strong knowledge of 3D apparel simulation and fabric draping tools, including CLO3D, Style3D, Browzwear VStitcher, or similar platforms.

• Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling, texturing, and sculpting software such as Blender, Maya, Rhino, ZBrush, Adobe Substance Suite, or comparable applications.

• Experience in producing professional-quality renderings using KeyShot, Cinema4D, Blender, or other similar rendering platforms.

• Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern analysis, fit evaluation, specification review, technical fit sessions, and the use of parametric avatars.

• Experience in creating and managing 3D asset libraries.

• Familiarity with material digitization, fabric simulation, texture development, and best practices in digital asset management.

• In-depth knowledge of HDRI maps, PBR workflows, UV mapping, texturing, rendering optimization, and core 3D development principles.

• Experience in converting, optimizing, and preparing 3D assets for web applications, animation, visualization tools, and digital commerce environments.

• Understanding of 3D file formats, export methods, and use cases across diverse technologies and applications.

• Knowledge of WebGL, interactive 3D visualization technologies, and web-based product viewing experiences.

• Strong project management and organizational abilities.

• Capacity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work independently.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with consumer product categories is preferred.
