This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Take ownership of cross-functional technical direction across service boundaries, contracts, data architecture, and platform advancements.
• Lead the architectural design for programs focused on decomposition and the replatforming of front-end systems.
• Develop architecture decision records, perform design reviews, document trade-offs, and provide clear written justifications.
• Collect requirements from dependent teams prior to designing and validate designs against actual users.
• Mentor tech leads in their own design processes, enhancing the pool of individuals capable of architecting solutions.
• Maintain simplicity in designs, adhering to the principle that they should be as uncomplicated as the problem permits.
• Collaborate with AI Operations and DevOps to ensure architectural compliance through contracts, validations, and delivery checkpoints.
• Direct how AI agents construct and modify systems to ensure machine-generated code remains within a human-governed framework.
• Facilitate an AI-native development lifecycle where agents assist in planning, building, validating, and releasing, while humans retain ownership of judgment and direction.
• Over 8 years of engineering experience, with several years leading architecture across various teams in SaaS or platform contexts.
• Proven history of designs that have been successfully implemented and remained robust in production environments.
• Hands-on experience in breaking down a monolithic architecture into services in a live production setting.
• Proficient in agentic systems, LLM integration patterns, and architectural considerations for codebases that include machine-generated components.
• Experience in regulated environments such as FedRAMP, StateRAMP, HIPAA, or similar is highly advantageous.
• Outstanding clarity in both written and verbal communication.
• Capability to rephrase requirements and confirm comprehension prior to initiating design work.
• Ability to identify and address confusion and uncertainty at early stages.
• Empathy for the constraints faced by dependent teams.
• Preference for straightforward, maintainable design solutions.
• Comfort with public mistakes and a quick adaptability to changes.
