Senior Application Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta.

📋 Description

• Establish and enhance secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Application Security (AppSec) program frameworks.

• Integrate secure coding standards into both development processes and backend platform engineering.

• Spearhead threat modeling initiatives and conduct high-risk security assessments for significant software releases.

• Deploy application security testing tools, such as Software Composition Analysis (SCA) and Application Security Posture Management (ASPM), along with container scanning and secret detection within CI/CD pipelines.

• Execute penetration testing and coordinate external penetration testing efforts.

• Oversee application vulnerabilities from their identification to successful remediation.

• Offer expert guidance and support to development teams.

• Design, maintain, and enforce standardized organization-wide paved roads and guardrails.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in application security, secure architecture, or related areas.

• Proven ability to influence senior engineering and product management leadership.

• Demonstrated success in implementing CI/CD security automation and secure coding methodologies.

• In-depth knowledge of web, API, and microservices security.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java and JavaScript.

• Experience in conducting penetration testing.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes/container security is a plus.
