This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +2 more countries.
β’ Engage in the complete software development lifecycle for embedded Android/Linux-based products, encompassing design, development, testing, debugging, release support, and maintenance.
β’ Create, develop, and sustain embedded software and platform-level components utilizing C/C++.
β’ Collaborate with Embedded Linux and Android BSP domains, including platform configuration, hardware interfaces, device drivers, and the support for new device functionalities.
β’ Contribute to control systems, digital media, and unified communications products utilized in enterprise environments.
β’ Investigate and resolve system-level challenges across Android/Linux software layers.
β’ Conduct troubleshooting, debugging, performance enhancements, and bug resolution.
β’ Facilitate integration between software applications, hardware components, connected devices, and control systems.
β’ Assist with field escalations for both new and legacy products.
β’ Analyze issues and contribute to the long-term reliability of products.
β’ Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test procedures, design notes, troubleshooting details, and implementation specifics.
β’ Collaborate with hardware, firmware, Android, Linux, and application engineers across various countries.
β’ Analyze intricate technical issues, propose solutions, make engineering decisions, and take ownership from investigation through implementation and validation.
β’ Over 8 years of demonstrable experience in developing, customizing, and debugging embedded software/firmware for Linux and/or Android-based products.
β’ Proficient programming skills in C/C++ within embedded or system-level development environments.
β’ Practical experience with Embedded Linux development on ARM-based platforms, covering configuration, build, deployment, hardware interfaces, and platform bring-up.
β’ Familiarity with Linux Kernel, U-Boot, Device Tree, and low-level platform customization.
β’ Hands-on experience in device driver development, optimization, troubleshooting, bug fixing, and enhancing functionality for display, power management, Wi-Fi, GPIO, or other hardware interfaces.
β’ Direct experience with Android HAL and debugging across the Android Framework and Linux Kernel layers.
β’ Solid understanding of AOSP architecture and Android platform development workflows.
β’ Strong knowledge of recent Android versions, preferably Android 14 or later.
β’ Experience with Git, Gerrit, GitHub, ADB, and Fastboot.
β’ Capability to debug embedded systems in scenarios where traditional step debugging may be limited or unavailable.
β’ Ability to independently interpret and understand electrical schematics.
β’ Aptitude for collaborating with hardware engineering teams.
β’ Strong problem-solving abilities, a sense of ownership, and the capacity to work autonomously.
β’ Effective written and verbal communication skills in an international engineering context.
β’ Experience with Android framework services, Android Native applications using JNI/NDK, or Android system applications developed in Java or Kotlin is a plus.
β’ Familiarity with hardware-accelerated graphics processing, particularly OpenGL ES, is advantageous.
β’ Experience with Camera, Display, Media, power management, or connectivity-related subsystems is a plus.
β’ Experience with Bash or Python scripting/automation is a plus.
β’ A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field would be beneficial.
β’ Long-term project involvement with clearly defined technical objectives.
