This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by troubleshooting and resolving issues.
• Identify common solutions and streamline redundant implementations.
• Ensure the maintenance of tested, clear, and reusable shared components.
• Initiate changes to team processes as necessary.
• Minimize the manual effort needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Implement early verification and broaden automated checks.
• Oversee planning and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and approval workflows.
• Engage in discussions related to Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career team members by providing learning opportunities.
• Write and review code while actively managing features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a background in leading a team or taking ownership of a major project while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or similar long-running background processes.
• Understanding the significance of tests and the approach to writing them, including limitations.
• An example of an initiative you implemented within a team that continued after your involvement ended, along with an honest reflection on the effort required for that outcome.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: persuading individuals to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes warrant extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven record of developing tools that your team actively utilized, rather than just those that enhanced your own productivity.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not solely your personal experiences.
• A strong intuition for product design, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Outstanding communication abilities.
