This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more state.
• Spearhead the development of analytics products and self-service tools that grant teams reliable and independent access to data.
• Assume full ownership of analytics products from start to finish, encompassing success metrics, schema design, testing, production deployment, data quality, freshness SLAs, and incident resolution.
• Construct and sustain ETL/ELT pipelines and canonical datasets for organization-wide analytical processes.
• Develop and uphold the governed data layer, which includes semantic models, canonical views, metric definitions, and data contracts.
• Ensure versioning and backward compatibility for BI and AI users.
• Organize models, definitions, and documentation to make data accessible to both individuals and AI agents.
• Create internal tools that empower teams to inquire about data and have confidence in the responses.
• Convert business inquiries into structured analytical challenges and data solutions.
• Guide the Analytics team and establish standards for testing, dbt CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, automation, runbooks, onboarding, and code review.
• Collaborate with Engineering on source schemas, events, system architecture, and reliable warehouse data.
• Over 4 years of experience in data or analytics engineering.
• Proven experience in building and managing production pipelines from start to finish, taking responsibility for issues when they arise.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with Python.
• Practical experience with ETL and orchestration tools like Airbyte, Fivetran, Dagster, dbt, or Airflow, including multi-step workflows.
• Familiarity with modern data warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
• Expertise in query and performance optimization.
• Strong data modeling abilities and comprehension of the business significance behind metrics.
• Experience in developing governed data layers, which include semantic models, canonical views, metric definitions, or data contracts.
• Background in writing data quality checks using dbt tests, Great Expectations, Pydeequ, or similar frameworks.
• Proficient in BI tools such as Omni, Mode, Looker, or Tableau.
• Experience in establishing standards for dbt CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and code reviews.
• Experience in mentoring others on data engineering best practices.
• A history of assessing and adopting new data and analytical technologies.
