Senior Analyst, Overdose Preparedness – Engagement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Spearhead engagement initiatives that enhance overdose preparedness among state and territorial health agencies.

• Establish and nurture relationships with jurisdictions, providers, consultants, federal partners, and national organizations.

• Create and sustain professional learning networks and communities of practice.

• Deliver and facilitate technical assistance that supports preparedness planning, execution, and ongoing improvement.

• Promote peer learning and collaboration among engaged jurisdictions and partners.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and facilitation of learning networks, virtual learning series, workshops, and educational initiatives.

• Manage participant recruitment, communication, scheduling, and ongoing involvement.

• Craft learning experiences that encourage knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the implementation of best practices.

• Enhance workforce development through provider education and peer learning opportunities.

• Direct virtual learning and provider education initiatives, collaborating with subject matter experts, faculty, and participants.

• Organize learning sessions and educational activities.

• Guide the planning, facilitation, execution, and coordination of assigned project activities.

• Create workplans, agendas, facilitation guides, presentations, participant resources, and other project outputs.

• Coordinate implementation efforts with jurisdictions, consultants, subject matter experts, federal partners, and internal ASTHO teams.

• Track project timelines, deliverables, and implementation status.

• Assist in project evaluation, document lessons learned, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Generate progress reports, summary reports, and other project outputs.

• Integrate participant feedback and evaluation insights into future activities and strategies.

• Collaborate with ASTHO teams and external partners on project execution and dissemination efforts.

• Represent ASTHO by leading meetings, workshops, conference sessions, and technical assistance engagements.

• Contribute to conference presentations, publications, case studies, webinars, podcasts, and various dissemination activities.

• Advocate for project resources and innovative practices at national meetings, partner engagements, and communication efforts.


⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred Master’s degree in public health, public policy, health administration, social sciences, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in public health, overdose prevention, substance use, injury prevention, emergency preparedness, workforce development, or a related field.

• Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

• Proven experience in designing and facilitating workshops, learning collaboratives, technical assistance activities, or other adult education opportunities.

• Demonstrated capability in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with state, territorial, tribal, local, or national partners.

• Experience in coordinating learning networks, communities of practice, partner engagement initiatives, or other collaborative public health activities.

• Knowledge of overdose prevention, substance use, public health preparedness, or related public health subjects.

• Experience in supporting project evaluation, performance measurement, and the creation of project reports and deliverables.

• Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.

• Proven track record of collaborative work across multidisciplinary teams and the ability to foster productive relationships with internal and external partners.

• Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 5% and up to 10% of the time.
