This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare documentation for sales and use tax returns across multiple states, collaborating with a third-party preparer to ensure filings are accurate and timely.

• Review and reconcile sales tax accounts, addressing and resolving any discrepancies.

• Ensure adherence to gross receipts taxes, business licenses, personal property taxes, and other various tax obligations.

• Stay informed on changes to tax rates and relevant regulatory developments.

• Assist in the optimization and upkeep of Avalara tax automation software.

• Aid in the management of sales and use tax audits by collecting necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

• Conduct research on intricate tax matters, new legislation, and regulatory updates to maintain compliance.

• Offer recommendations regarding tax positions and strategies for risk mitigation.

• Work collaboratively with IT, Finance, and other business partners to improve tax reporting and compliance procedures.

• Help assess and implement enhancements to processes for increased efficiency and effectiveness.

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders concerning sales tax-related issues.

• Contribute to the development of Circana’s proactive, technology-driven Global Tax function.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.

• Over 3 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance within corporate tax, consulting, or public accounting settings.

• Proficient in using sales tax research tools like Bloomberg Tax or comparable platforms.

• Familiarity with ERP systems and tax automation software.

• Preferred experience with NetSuite and Avalara.

• Strong proficiency in Excel, including data analysis and reconciliation skills.

• Experience in performing account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and resolving tax-related challenges.

• Capable of independently managing ongoing compliance activities, prioritizing deadlines, and escalating issues when necessary.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.

• Capacity to handle multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• A background check may be necessary for this position.
