Senior AI Researcher, Agentic Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and develop agent systems capable of planning and executing multi-step tasks involving imagery, geometry, and documents.

• Establish retrieval and grounding mechanisms for a spatially and temporally indexed site record.

• Design the tools utilized by agents to identify components, compare captures, read drawing areas, or query BIM elements.

• Develop evaluations for tasks with ambiguous ground truth and evaluate production readiness.

• Choose frontier APIs, open-weight models, fine-tuned small models, or classical computer vision based on cost, latency, and accuracy considerations.

• Ensure outputs are traceable to supporting pixels, drawing sheets, or specification sections.

• Rapidly prototype, discontinue ineffective methods, and collaborate with platform engineers to deliver successful solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• M.S./Ph.D. in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in building ML systems.

• At least one LLM or VLM-based system developed for production and maintained operational.

• Proficient in designing evaluations from scratch where ground truth is costly, sparse, or contested.

• Strong proficiency in multimodal fluency: vision-language models, embeddings and retrieval, context design, and fine-tuning.

• Experience with Python, asynchronous orchestration, tracing, and cost instrumentation.

• Familiarity with spatial data, including coordinate frames, camera poses, and projections.

• Good judgment regarding what tasks are worth automating.

• Experience with post-training or reinforcement learning on agent trajectories is a plus.

• Knowledge of document understanding over technical drawings, specifications, or structured PDFs is a plus.

• Experience with mobile capture, wearables, or field audio is a plus.

• Background in construction, robotics, geospatial, or another physical-world domain is a plus.
