Audio AI Research Scientist – Audio Understanding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +12 more locations.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, prototype, train, and assess innovative audio understanding models from initial experiments through real-time deployment on devices.

• Create resilient methods for sound event detection/localization, acoustic anomaly detection, and context-aware audio interpretation.

• Investigate multimodal strategies that integrate microphone signals with video, IMU, or other sensor data.

• Construct and manage datasets and data pipelines, evaluation protocols, and demonstrations that assess accuracy, robustness, latency, and compute cost.

• Collaborate with DSP and software engineers to embed models into proof-of-concept systems and product platforms.

• Present findings and contribute to patents or conference publications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in machine learning, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent research experience.

• Significant hands-on experience with contemporary audio understanding models, including sound event detection, SELD, acoustic scene analysis, or anomaly detection.

• Experience with the development and evaluation of deep learning models in PyTorch.

• Proficient in Python programming.

• Knowledge of audio representations, DSP, and evaluation metrics for detection, localization, and generalization.

• Capable of addressing complex, open-ended challenges that require experimentation.

• Familiarity with multimodal fusion utilizing video, IMU, or other sensors is advantageous.

• Experience with efficient inference, causal ML, ONNX/TFLite, embedded ML, or C/C++ is a bonus.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Publications at conferences such as ICASSP, Interspeech, NeurIPS, or similar are appreciated but not mandatory.
