Senior AI Engineer, Legal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and implement AI-driven solutions that enhance legal and compliance workflows.

• Collaborate with attorneys and compliance experts to perform discovery, pinpoint automation opportunities, and provide reliable solutions.

• Architect comprehensive AI applications for contract analysis, legal research, regulatory review, and compliance processes.

• Develop document processing pipelines for legal materials, encompassing ingestion, parsing, chunking, embedding, and indexing.

• Write clean, thoroughly tested Python and/or TypeScript code for production systems utilizing LLM APIs and orchestration frameworks.

• Deploy, monitor, and refine production-level AI features through CI/CD pipelines.

• Create automated evaluation pipelines, test suites, and quality metrics for legal AI results.

• Implement data security measures, access management, audit logging, PII redaction, and compliance with data residency regulations.

• Convert legal user requirements into product and technical specifications, while assisting in feature prioritization.

• Lead, educate, and mentor legal team members in crafting no-code AI solutions.

• Act as the technical liaison between legal and engineering teams.

• Provide demonstrations and training to legal users, incorporating user feedback into product development and roadmap planning.

• Collaborate with IT and Data & AI teams to deliver scalable solutions that align with enterprise architecture and governance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, data science, or machine learning engineering.

• Proven track record of delivering production applications.

• Experience with large language models (LLMs), including skills in prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG architecture, agent/tool-use development, and evaluation frameworks.

• Strong programming skills in Python.

• Familiarity with AI/ML libraries and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Hugging Face, or similar orchestration tools.

• Experience with modern AI infrastructure, including vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, or Qdrant.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Knowledge of API design and containerized deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience in designing data pipelines and document processing systems for large-scale unstructured content, including parsing, OCR, entity extraction, and classification.

• Demonstrated interest or experience in the legal, compliance, or regulatory sectors.

• Ability to utilize AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot in production settings.

• A Master's or advanced degree is advantageous.

• Proficiency in TypeScript or Java is a plus.

• Experience in building or deploying AI solutions within regulated industries is favorable.

• Familiarity with agentic AI patterns, including multi-step autonomous workflows, human-in-the-loop oversight, tool invocation, MCP servers, and structured outputs is beneficial.

• Knowledge of enterprise AI governance and responsible AI practices is a plus.

• Willingness to travel 10–25% for meetings and conferences.
