Senior AI Engineer, Agents and Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the platform utilized by every Anzel agent and establish its architecture.

• Determine what to develop, purchase, or phase out, while documenting decisions for both personnel and agents.

• Create the framework that transforms plain-language skills into dependable agents.

• Develop tools, orchestration, long-term workflows, memory and context management, retrieval systems, structured outputs, model routing, fallbacks, and rollback mechanisms.

• Design the tool layer, which includes tool assignment, version control, access management, and logging per customer.

• Collaborate with the head of engineering to build secure agents and segregate customer data.

• Protect against prompt injection and log every action taken by agents.

• Evaluate every modification, tracking costs and execution times.

• Ensure continuous delivery by reviewing code with coding agents during the initial pass, and facilitate quick rollbacks of releases.

• Lead through building, making decisive choices, and providing prompt, constructive feedback.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of eight years of experience in building and operating production software, or a comparable portfolio developed independently.

• Strong backend expertise, encompassing APIs, relational databases, queues, and long-running workflows.

• Proven experience in developing language model products that are actively used by real users.

• Familiarity with retrieval systems and agents that go beyond demonstration purposes.

• The discernment to recognize when an agent is not the appropriate solution.

• Experience in designing evaluations that effectively demonstrate whether a change was beneficial.

• Regular use of multiple coding agents without deploying incomprehensible code.

• A security-focused mindset from managing systems that handle customer data.

• A tangible project that you can present.

• Proficient in professional English.

• Proficiency in German is a bonus.
