Senior AI Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete architecture and delivery of intricate automation systems.

• Establish engineering standards for automation concerning code structure, testing, deployment, version control, documentation, and architecture.

• Lead technical design evaluations and pinpoint architectural risks, scalability limitations, integration dependencies, and operational factors.

• Propel the reliability and modernization of the current RPA portfolio.

• Oversee transitions from legacy RPA to Playwright, API-native automation, or other contemporary methods.

• Design and operationalize AI-integrated, multi-step agentic workflows utilizing LLM reasoning, tool use, APIs, and deterministic process logic.

• Incorporate Claude, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Amazon Q into automation workflows.

• Collaborate with IT, engineering, and business stakeholders to convert process challenges into scalable automation specifications.

• Equip automation systems with telemetry to monitor reliability, volume, latency, failures, and costs.

• Provide technical guidance by breaking down tasks, reviewing code and designs, mentoring team members, and resolving complex implementation challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in automation engineering, software engineering, systems integration, or a related field.

• Significant experience in delivering and maintaining automation solutions in a production environment.

• Strong skills in Python and/or JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Capability to write production-quality code, perform effective code reviews, and make independent architectural choices.

• Practical experience with RPA platforms such as Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Power Automate, UiPath, or similar.

• Experience in maintaining production automations, troubleshooting failures, and managing changes to dependent systems.

• Expertise in designing robust automation systems incorporating retry strategies, alerting, state management, observability, and recovery paths.

• Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs, including authentication methods, rate limiting, pagination, error handling, and orchestration across various services.

• A solid foundation in system design, maintainable coding practices, testing, version control, and production-grade delivery.

• Proven history of establishing or contributing to engineering standards.

• Ability to make technical decisions spanning both legacy and modern automation technologies.

• Experience collaborating with technical and business teams to clarify requirements, assess trade-offs, and navigate complex initiatives.

• Familiarity with Playwright or similar browser automation frameworks.

• Experience in developing production-level agentic AI systems using LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or equivalent tools.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment strategies, and version control workflows.

• Background in enterprise IT operations, IT service management, systems integration, or large-scale business process automation.

• Experience in integrating large language models or enterprise AI platforms into production automation workflows.

• Familiarity with monitoring, telemetry, and observability practices.
