This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Oversee, mentor, and manage the daily operations of a Philippines-based team comprising 3–4 accountants.
• Distribute workflows, track turnaround times, and ensure that deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Review the team's output for precision, compliance, and quality before forwarding it to the Australian office.
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for technical accounting inquiries.
• Guide and enhance the skills of junior and intermediate accountants.
• Assist in the onboarding and training process for new team members.
• Independently manage the processing of electronic data and journal entries across various client sizes.
• Prepare comprehensive working papers and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, BAS, FBT, and tax planning schedules.
• Evaluate returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian tax laws.
• Handle ATO correspondence and client inquiries.
• Attend to corporate secretarial responsibilities, including ASIC notifications, minutes, and resolutions.
• Conduct tax research and assess the implications of legislative changes on clients.
• Prepare tax planning schedules and supporting analyses for manager or partner review.
• Draft responses for client manager review regarding complex or sensitive issues.
• Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements to boost production efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance internal SOPs, checklists, and quality-control procedures.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in Australian public practice accounting, with a focus on tax and financial statements.
• Previous experience in a leadership role, such as team leader, supervisor, or production manager.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and Australian tax compliance regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• A proactive, efficiency-oriented mindset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with MYOB Accountants Enterprise (desirable but not essential).
• Familiarity with MYOB Practice Management System (MPM) (desirable but not essential).
• Knowledge of Nimbus Document Management System (desirable but not essential).
• Experience with MYOB Essentials and AccountRight (desirable but not essential).
• Proficiency in Xero (desirable but not essential).
