This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take charge of designated management areas within the School of Medicine and Dentistry, encompassing internal financial reporting, account and fund classification, ledgers, and research financial management.
• Evaluate and interpret financial, statistical, and operational data to uncover trends, variances, and significant correlations.
• Assess Sponsored Awards Receivable projects and facilitate revenue recovery along with SMD Finance & Operations initiatives.
• Generate monthly profit and loss statements for SMD, conduct budget-to-actual variance analyses, and prepare reports.
• Oversee Grants Out of Award and Grant Deficit initiatives, presenting findings at monthly MSAG meetings.
• Supervise and authorize monthly reconciliations for SMD Finance & Operations operating accounts.
• Validate accounting data, account balances, and reporting timelines to ensure accuracy.
• Interpret and determine the accounting treatment for financial transactions.
• Authorize initial-level transactions impacting SMD and guide necessary corrections or manual transactions.
• Provide training for new staff on UR Financials and journal entry processes.
• Ensure accurate billing for University Hospital Affiliates and manage check deposits.
• Compile annual AAMC Faculty Salary, SMD Finance & Operations space, and equipment surveys.
• Lead designated research, planning, and change-recommendation projects, including establishing timelines, activity plans, and coordinating staff efforts.
• Offer analytical and operational assistance to the Associate Dean & Senior Director of Operations, covering insurance claims, space productivity, sponsored funding analysis, and strategic operational initiatives.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, along with 5 years of relevant professional accounting experience is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Preferred experience includes team management skills.
• Proficient computer skills, particularly in utilizing web-based resources and possessing a working knowledge of spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling software.
• Familiarity with Axiom, Workday, HRMS, URSpace, MyPath, IORA, and other UR systems is preferred.
