
Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.
• Analyze revenue recognition and billing schedules within NetSuite ARM and Zone Advanced Billing (ZAB) to ensure accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Evaluate customer contracts, amendments, renewals, upsells, downsells, terminations, and other commercial agreements to ascertain the correct revenue recognition treatment as per ASC 606.
• Draft technical accounting memos and provide supporting documentation for customer agreements.
• Prepare and uphold account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analyses.
• Examine fluctuations, pinpoint trends, and resolve discrepancies that affect financial reporting.
• Create revenue-related journal entries along with the necessary supporting schedules.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests, financial statement disclosures, and reporting schedules.
• Facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
• Review credit memos, billing adjustments, customer disputes, contract modifications, and other customer account transactions.
• Collaborate with NetSuite, Salesforce, and related system administrators to ensure the accuracy of contract, customer, usage, and billing data.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to transactions, billing, and system data.
• Oversee revenue-related operations and identify accounting implications or reporting risks.
• Calculate sales commission amortization schedules and create monthly accounting entries.
• Support analyses related to bad debt reserves, accounts receivable allowance, and CECL.
• Reconcile deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, accounts receivable, bad debt reserves, and other revenue-related balance sheet accounts.
• Document, standardize, and enhance revenue accounting processes.
• Identify and implement opportunities for automation to improve closing efficiency.
• Utilize AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to finance transformation, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Generate reporting and analytics on revenue trends, operational performance, and business drivers.
• Travel up to 10%, including overnight trips.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of advancing accounting experience, encompassing month-end close and financial reporting duties.
• 2+ years of experience in supporting ASC 606 revenue accounting within a SaaS, software, healthcare technology, recurring revenue, or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
• Proficient in preparing journal entries, reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Experienced in accounting for deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, contract modifications, commission accounting, and other revenue-related transactions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivots, lookups, data analysis, and managing large data sets.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
