This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assist in the creation and assessment of annual operating and capital budgets across various locations.
• Evaluate financial trends and historical data to facilitate planning and strategic decision-making.
• Help prepare and verify essential financial reports, including the annual financial audit and Forms 990, 571-L, and Welfare Form Filings.
• Contribute to DHCS PPS Reconciliation Requests and Change in Scope of Service Requests (CSOSR), with a focus on variance analysis.
• Aid in the annual Medicare Cost Report, UDS, and HCAI (OSHPD) financial reporting processes.
• Support the financial aspects of grant reporting, including Service Area Competition and continuation reports.
• Examine financial and practice management system data for accuracy and completeness.
• Investigate discrepancies and propose improvements to reporting processes.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage, analyze, and present financial information effectively.
• Standardize and document financial procedures across multiple entities.
• Facilitate cross-training initiatives and the development of training materials for staff.
• Act as a backup for monthly closing and reconciliation activities.
• Collaborate closely with the CFO and Controller on budgeting, regulatory reporting, and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance and reporting accuracy in a multi-entity healthcare setting.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline; or more than 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proven experience in supporting Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, HCAI (OSHPD), UDS, grant reporting, or other forms of government financial reporting.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced analytical and reporting functions.
• Background in healthcare accounting, with an understanding of regulatory reporting requirements.
• Experience working across multiple entities and segments.
• Proven track record in mentoring and developing junior accounting personnel.
• Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Abila MIP or similar accounting software.
• Knowledge of Paylocity or comparable payroll systems and related reporting.
• Understanding of healthcare systems such as OCHIN Epic, NextGen, or eClinicalWorks.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines effectively.
• Capability to work independently and proactively seek clarification when needed.
• Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in lookups, pivot tables, and index/match functions.
• Ability to work with large and complex datasets.
