Senior Accountant, CPA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Oversee the company's lease portfolio in accordance with ASC 842, including classification, amortization schedules, journal entries, and necessary disclosures.

• Take ownership of percentage-of-completion calculations and revenue recognition for long-term contracts as per ASC 606.

• Collaborate with project and operations teams to ensure accurate cost-to-complete estimates.

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end closing processes.

• Design, document, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Conduct account analysis and reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Identify and resolve discrepancies to uphold the integrity of the general ledger.

• Research and apply US GAAP to new or complex transactions.

• Draft accounting memos that document technical accounting conclusions.

• Assist external auditors by preparing schedules and providing support for audits or annual reviews.

• Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and other departments to align accounting practices with business operations.

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of the accounting function as the company grows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active CPA license is mandatory.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience is required.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP is essential.

• Practical experience in lease accounting (ASC 842) and/or revenue recognition for long-term contracts (ASC 606) is necessary.

• Background in building or enhancing accounting processes is preferred.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and establish structure from the ground up.

• Proficient Excel skills are required.

• Experience with an ERP/accounting system such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or Dynamics is necessary.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities are essential.

• Capacity to manage multiple deliverables against tight deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is mandatory.

• Prior experience in a growth-stage private company transitioning from informal to standardized accounting practices is a plus.

• Experience with system implementations or ERP migrations is an advantage.

• Background in Big 4 or regional public accounting is desirable.
