
Senior Accountant – Australian Tax, Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, and trusts in Australia.
• Create financial statements and supporting documentation, ensuring they are ready for review and submission.
• Assess bookkeeping records, pinpoint issues, and implement necessary corrections.
• Oversee EOFY adjustments, which include accruals, prepayments, depreciation, loan reconciliations, and other year-end journal entries.
• Utilize knowledge of company tax, including franking accounts, dividends, and related modifications.
• Examine balance sheet accounts and investigate any unreconciled or unusual balances.
• Reconcile accounting profits with taxable income.
• Review the work of junior team members, address technical inquiries, and assist in their professional growth.
• Independently manage your client workload from start to finish.
• Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in preparing Australian income tax returns and financial statements.
• Practical experience with various entity types — individuals, sole traders, companies, and trusts.
• Strong understanding of company tax, particularly regarding franking accounts and dividend adjustments.
• Experience in preparing EOFY adjustments and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Proven ability to prepare tax reconciliations and explain discrepancies between accounting profit and taxable income.
• Confidence in reviewing the work of others and providing clear, constructive feedback.
• Excellent attention to detail and the discernment to know when something warrants further examination.
• Preferred experience with cloud accounting or Australian tax lodgement software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, HandiTax).
• Prior experience in mentoring or supervising junior accountants is an advantage.
