Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Provide comprehensive support for all elements of the General Ledger and the preparation and reporting of financial statements.

• Examine and reconcile intricate financial data to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accounting practices.

• Assess accounting, internal control, and departmental procedures to enhance compliance, efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

• Detect trends or discrepancies in accounting system transactions and evaluate their significance.

• Handle accounting issues within designated authority and escalate other matters to higher management.

• Compile reports of findings and serve as an internal consultant for atypical or complex accounting challenges.

• Assist with compliance tasks, including the preparation of tax filings and cost reports.

• Organize and execute timely, efficient, and accurate month-end General Ledger closing processes.

• Monitor, coordinate, and record journal entries while ensuring proper segregation of duties and approvals.

• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for designated facilities.

• Create reports, worksheets, analyses, documentation, and supporting schedules for auditors, tax returns, and regulatory agencies.

• Act as the primary contact and provide accounting support to executive directors and department heads of assigned facilities.

• Oversee and analyze departmental work to develop more efficient procedures and resource utilization.

• Execute general payroll tasks as required.

• Manage general fixed asset functions as needed.

• Advocate for Transforming Age's Mission, Vision, Values, Culture of Excellence, and strategic objectives.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BS/BA in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.

• Proficient understanding of GAAP and relevant regulations.

• Experience in multi-state tax accounting.

• Strong knowledge of accounting and financial processes, including audit preparation, budgeting, and reporting.

• Preferably 3 or more years of experience as a public accountant.

• CPA certification is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of the healthcare sector is preferred.

• Experience with Workday is an advantage.
